  1.  Introduction to Seminar

Japanese Graduates’ Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JAGAAS) is organizing its Management Seminar – 2017 on the above topic to be on 30th November 2017 (Thursday) from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hotel – Miraj, Wellawatta. The seminar  share the knowledge and experience of the three (03) distinguished speakers followed by a panel discussion and an open forum for the discussion with the participants.

  1.  Purpose of Seminar

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is the fourth major industrial era since the initial Industrial Revolution of the 18th century. It can be described as a range of new technologies that are focusing on the physical, digital, and biological worlds and impacting all disciplines, economies and industries as a whole. The Industry 4.0 brings lot of benefits to emerging economies such as Sri Lanka while exposing us to many risks and challenges. It is therefore necessary that all stakeholders including the government, businesses, and public should be educated and get ready to face such developments. Then the objective of this seminar is to discuss on how Sri Lankan businesses should be ready proactively to get the maximum benefits from Industry 4.0.

  1.  Inaugural Session

The inaugural session of the seminar will be started with the National Anthems of Sri Lanka and Japan which is to commemorate the great contribution of Sri Lanka and Japan towards completing studies in Japan in different disciplines by the members of JAGAAS and to show the high diplomatic ties between the two countries. Further, the Chief Guest of this valuable event will be His Excellency Kenichi Suganuma, the Ambassador to Japan in Sri Lanka who also will also be addressing the gathering.The inaugural session will be decorated by the Keynote Speech done by Hon. ProfessorAshuMarasinghe, A Member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka/Former Visiting Professor of Nagota University, Japan.

    (Mr. Poorna Bandara – General Manager/Director Sales & Consulting South Asia of IFS, Chairman of National Council on ICT Skills Development)
  • Strategies to adopt in digitizing business and industry
    (Mr. Sampath Jayasundara –CEO/Director of hSenid Business Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, Co-Founder/Director of Pioneer Institute of Business & Technology (Pvt) Ltd)

   5.   Panel Discussion

The panel discussion on the topic is also another added feature of this seminar where the following distinguished panelists representing various technologies and industries will share their knowledge and experience by refreshing the outcomes of the three speakers presented about the three themes.

  • Use of Industry 4.0 Technologies at Boeing Corperation:
    Dr. Greshan Fernando – Process Engineer at Boeing Corporation,Seatle USA(connected via Online Video Conferincing).
  • Industry 4.0 Teachnologies- Trends in Japan:
    Mr. Hideo Horiguchi – JICA Advisor to the Board of Investment (BOI), Sri Lanka.
  • Role of HEIs in Preparing Skills for Industry 4.0:
    Prof. Gamini Wijerathne, Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kenaliya
  • Experience in using 3-D Printing for Socio-Economic Development in Sri Lanka:
    Mr. Priyantha Palapathwala – Co-Founder/Director at Fab Lanka Foundation

(Panel Discussion will be moderated by Mr. Chaminda Hettiarachchi)

These brief presentations will be followed by a Q & A Session and a Open Discussion Forum with the participants.
