Ambassador of Japan

I would like to extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt appreciation to the President and members of the Japanese Graduates’ Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JAGAAS) for the invaluable contributions they have made towards strengthening the friendly relations between Japan and Sri Lanka.

JAGAAS has been, since its inception, a very vibrant organization consisting of prominent academicians, professionals, executives, administrators and public servants, all of whom are graduates from Japanese universities. It has always been heartening to see Japanese graduates make a lasting mark on the socio-economic development of Sri Lanka and on making our bilateral relationship more efflorescent in their respective professional fields.

I am particularly impressed by the efforts of JAGAAS members in organizing seminars and workshops to introduce Japanese values and philosophies to a wide audience in Sri Lanka. These initiatives have not only promoted a deeper understanding of Japan in Sri Lanka but have also facilitated academic and intellectual exchanges between Sri Lankan and the Japanese at various levels. Such exchanges of knowledge and ideas have enriched the mutual understanding in each other’s cultures and education.

I would also like to commend JAGAAS for its recent accomplishment in publishing a commemorative volume, Odyssey of Partnership in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between our two countries in 2022 with the collaboration of the University of Tokyo Sri Lanka Office. This publication not only showcases the cutting-edge research achievements on Japan by JAGAAS members but also serves as a testament to the depth of the enduring friendship between our peoples.

I sincerely express my deepest appreciation to the President and all the members of JAGAAS for their unwavering support and outstanding contributions. Your efforts continue to make a positive impact on the bilateral relations between our countries, and I look forward to witnessing further successes of JAGAAS in the future.
